Seizing the opportunity to apply for these scholarships expands the range of financial aid options available to you. Keeping this in mind, we've thoughtfully curated a collection of scholarships providing financial assistance specifically with deadlines in May 2024.
The When There Are Nine Scholarship Project (WTAN): The WTAN scholarship targets incoming and returning law students to advance equity and diversity within the legal profession. This scholarship is for women applicants of all diversified backgrounds to receive the opportunity to expand career opportunities. The mission of this project is to honor the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Recipients of this award will reciceve $10,000 per semester and have access to a mentor who will provide guidance and support. To be eligible, however, you must have some ties to New York City, whether it be family, law school, or intent to practice around the area. The application does require a brief essay (500 words) and the deadline to submit required information is May 1st, 2024.
Alford & Clark Injury Attorneys Students in Need Scholarship: Alford and Clark Injury Attorneys are awarding scholarships up to $2,000 in fall and spring semesters to qualified students interested in law and demonstrate need for financial assistance. Requirements are simple as all that is needed is statement of financial need, contact information, proof of enrollment and a 1–2-minute video answering the prompt, “Imagine you have graduated college and have begun your career in the legal field. How will you use your skills to help others who are in need?” All aspiring and returning law students are able to apply but must demonstrate the need for financial aid and have a family annual income of under $50,000. The deadline for application submission is May 20th, 2024.
Law Office of Jae Lee Immigrant Student Scholarship: The Law Office of Jae Lee often represents clients in immigration matters, so they are offering a scholarship to ensure immigrants have the chance to pursue educational opportunities. One student will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship per semester, which can be used to cover educational expenses. Students must be a first- or second-generation immigrant living in the U.S., have at least a 3.0 GPA, must be enrolled or accepted into college, university, or graduate program, and have an annual household income of less than $50,000. A brief written essay or video submission answering one of their four prompts should be included with your application, which is due May 20th, 2024.
Make-the-World-Better Scholarship: This scholarship being offered by Butler Law Firm is available to aspiring and current law students who are working to make the world better in their own way. This branches into the many categories under law and applying is simple. You must provide your resume, transcript, and create a 2–10-minute video, explaining what you want to do to make the world better, how you will do it, and at least one aspect of your plan. After your video is uploaded to YouTube, you must email scholarship@butlerfirm.com. The submission deadline is May 24, 2024 and winners will be picked June 21st, 2024. $1,000 will be rewarded to the winner and second place will receive a $500 prize.
Aspiring Personal Injury Lawyer Law Student Scholarship: Mattiacci Law is offering a scholarship reward of $2,500 to current and aspiring law students interested in personal injury law. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide monetary assistance to law students who want to practice personal injury law and who are dedicated to changing the legal landscape. Requirements are simple; however, students must write an essay of 800 or more words. This essay must detail applicant’s passion for becoming an injury lawyer, explain motivation, and highlight how they plan to leave an impact. Applications must be submitted by May 30, 2024, and recipient will be announced same day.
Joel Stern Diversity Equity & Inclusion Pipeline Scholarship: The National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) is offering the Joel Stern scholarship to returning 2L and 3L African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, LGBT and female law students who contribute to the diversity of the law school student body in pursuit of their legal career. Applicants must provide their law school transcript, resume, two letters of recommendation, and other materials in the attached application. Finalists will be interviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee. Winners will be awarded $10,000 and selected May 31, 2024.
Jan Jancin Competition: The Foundation for Advancement of Diversity in IP Law (FADIPL) has created the Jan Jancin merit-scholarship awards which recognizes rising 2L and 3L students from diverse backgrounds who are underrepresented racial or ethnic minorities. Law schools may submit one nomination for a student that is interested in a career in intellectual property law, has demonstrated excellence in intellectual property academic courses, and may have led intellectual property-related student activities. A nomination in the form of a letter of recommendation on law school letterhead as well as a one-page student written essay discussing personal achievements related to the field of IP are required. Winners will receive an award of $2,500 and an invitation to attend the 2024 annual meeting. The deadline to submit is May 31, 2024.
Georgelis Law Scholarship Award: Georgelis, Larsen & Sabatino Injury Law Firm, P.C. recognize the increasing cost of graduate education can be a deterrent for those seeking to become a productive part of our society’s legal profession. The Georgelis Law scholarship is available to incoming or current law school students. The most deserving recipient will receive a $1,500 prize. Application requirements include answering an essay prompt in a maximum of 2,000 words. The deadline to apply is May 31st, 2024 and a winner will be picked by July 15, 2024.
